First night nerves

I do believe I’m a little nervous. I’m off to my first face-to-face meeting since March. And we will be filming at it… first night nerves.

Well that’s a positive – the jeans still fit.

I’ve been living in shorts if we’ve been out for much of that time. Has to be three months at least.

And I can JUST about breathe while wearing them!

Okay that wasn’t so bad.

Actually it was pretty good.

Strange though. But good.

And more than a little tiring.

Previously (or during lockdown anyway) if I was feeling a touch cream crackered (see previous) I could go have a slump on the sofa while it passed.

Can’t really do that in a recording studio

Not with other people present and it being filmed anyway.

It wasn’t THAT sort of film. Cheesy grin 🤭.

So I’m trying to scribble the rest of this week’s musings while trying not to slump forward on my desk and starting to snore.

Ah well.

Such things are sent to try us.

And it’s the end of my (four day) week this week and with a bank holiday NEXT week I’ll hardly have time to inhale before it’s time to go round again!

Did I say we’re going away soon? Two weeks yesterday, Covid permitting?

Probably.

Which means it’s time to start getting freaked.

Fixed number of hours/days, variable amount of work to do in said hours.

It’s like all your clients and suppliers have had a message saying bother him before he goes away, he loves it!

Well that’s the way it has gone every year up until now so why should 2020 be any different?

First night nerves? maybe not but maybe.

We shall see.

I’m pleased to sat that the assignment that was doing my head in last week is now all wrapped up.

T’s crossed, i’s dotted, filed with the regulator.

AND, client said if I dropped my invoice over that day he’d add it to their BACS run.

Which he did.

So around three hours from raising the fee to getting the remittance advice stating it had been paid.

Now that’s what I call a welcome client, complications or not!

More please…

Had a real “roundtoit” outbreak yesterday.

Roundtoit? No?

It’s what people said when they gave you a circular object of unknown provenance which, when you looked quizzical or asked them said “you always keep saying that you will do tasks x, y and z when you get around to it, so here’s a roundtoit so get your *!*! finger out and get it done!”

Maybe it’s my age.

Still, I had a very satisfying feeling of dealing with a load of things that were (a) important but (b) not going to earn me any dosh.

Okay, break for dinner now…

And TV, and Spanish, and even bedtime.

Also tomorrow’s breakfast (which is obviously today now) because it’s my day off and I forgot – senior moment. Okay???

I’m allowed. I’ve earned it. I’m probably due a lot more than that if truth be told.

Just time to wrap everything up and get the biker chick to proof it when she gets in.

I used to go with her on her weekly works visit but once summer came along, together with more and more holiday traffic, her going on the motorbike made so much sense.

And she loves it too! A ella le encanta su motocicleta.
