The postman cometh
Not going to be much competition for THAT on SEO. The postman cometh?
Mind you not sure how many people are likely to type it in their browser.
My office faces the driveway so anyone delivering will usually pass my gaze on the way to the front door.
And I’ve always tried to acknowledge other people. I like to think it makes their day go better if you give them a smile and a wave.
What do you think?
This morning was a slow start – I ended yesterday with a backlog of nearly 90 emails received since 09.00 and reviewing them before I ran out of day was unlikely.
So that started this morning.
Then the postman cometh. And brought me some tiny bottles of CBD oil.
Just short of GBP65.00 a pop. But if it works I don’t begrudge it.
Not at all.
So, of course, down tools to open it, natter with Lorraine and break my flow of concentration.
Start to get back into it when a parcel delivery driver cometh.
A box of beer is delivered (my lucky day – everything’s usually for her) complete with leak.
Not leek – member of onion family – but leak, one of the cans has sprung a leak.
The driver asked if we wanted him to return it but, on the bird in hand principle (old English proverb – a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush), it’s easier to keep the vast bulk of the order and twist someone’s arm for the breakage(s) than have it go back, for that offer no longer to be in stock and have to negotiate a credit note or a refund.
So, one can seems to be 25% lighter than the others and significantly more dented so correct call this time.
This one replaces one that was never delivered so had to be credited.
Just waiting for their follow up email and I’ll get a credit or refund on the one.
The name of the beer? Black Rain. Almost appropriate…
But another big dent out my morning by the time you’ve opened everything, wiped it all down, popped it in another box and had the inevitable natter.
And all of a sudden it’s 10.30.
And I’ve not done anything that could be vaguely construed as “work” in the established sense of the word.
Plus I’ll be Becki-ing at 11.00 (life coach monthly session).
This takes the number of times I’ve referenced her in these ramblings to at least double figures.
I shall have to start charging for commission…
Do you realise just how difficult it is to gently drop the phrase the postman cometh into a post?
Okay, time for a cuppa and a horizontal break – study the insides of my eyelids for a while.
That’s better. Visited my osteopath in her new premises two days ago.
Always (generally) feel fine the day after but the day AFTER that everything feels sore for a day or two so the lie down gives me time to ease out the odd joint or two.
I’ve also acquired a new repetitive strain injury. Already got ones in both elbows but my typing hand started feeling as if the wrist was sore when it was touching the mouse pad.
I was pretty certain it wasn’t carpel tunnel – sensation to the base of the little finger rather than in the centre of the wrist – but it’s always good to have something treatable.
And yes, I’d managed to misalign (oddly misaligned was in the spellchecker but misalign was not) a couple of the small bones in the back of the hand.
So once again too much time at the computer is not good for my health.
Nothing new there then.
I was wrong last week. It’s now less than a week until we go away and nothing excremental has hit any proverbial fan.
Most confusing. But next week I’m not going to care. There just won’t be the time!
I may well pause the blog while we’re away. Don’t know whether we’ll have the time to devote to it during all the relaxing…
Which just gives me time to add another superfluous the postman cometh to keep WordPress happy and wrap up for now.
Just hoping nothing untoward crawls out the (world) woodwork with Covid, Brexit or the like before next Wednesday.
Wish us luck. Talk soon.
