Could REALLY be a short post!

Not even the right day this time.

Seriously busy yesterday – definitely circumstances…

I wanted Lorraine to do a payroll but to do said payroll I needed to calculate the bonuses which are done quarterly but I couldn’t do the bonus calculations until I’d got the management information up-to-date and the MI was not fully tied down as a consequence of my operation of a couple of months back meaning having to do the twiddly bits for three months rather than one.

Takes a breath. Inhale. Exhale.

Today started with my third networking meeting of the week (having said I wasn’t going to do more than two at the moment – BUT, I suppose, one of them was a lunchtime but that meant I couldn’t start the aforementioned twiddly bits on Wednesday due to (a) running out of day and (b) because I had a local council meeting in the evening which put paid to enough of the evening that I seriously DID NOT want to start again on my return) so it’s my own fault – as usual…

Then this afternoon I was hoping to break the back of what OUGHT to be a straightforward exercise but is anything but – charity accounts where we’ve moved from one accounting platform to another and the transfer process does not maintain the funds information (and they have around twenty active ones). S’easy methinks – look at their end-of-last-year MI, cross check it with the statutory accounts and map the funding allocations to the new platform. What can go wrong I hear you ask?

And I’m sure you can guess the answer.

Four different sets of figures, some of which are summaries and some are not, and NO TWO SETS OF FIGURES equal each other.

Sigh.

My head hurts, my emails are sneaking away from me (numerically) and it’s twelve hours since I got up this morning. Have chucked a question or two back to the client and I’m giving up for the while.

It’s getting dark out there so it looks like it’s going to rain.
