What was it I was going to write?
What was it I was going to write? I discussed my blog with Lorraine on our way back from lunch (€13 for nachos with cheese, olives and chicken and two large orange juices) and how I couldn’t think of anything because work keeps getting in the way.
But I never got round to mentioning the title because we dropped into the farmacia to pick up my meds and guess what?
No brainer – just like me – not a fcuking clue what it was I came up with.
Sigh…
I thought I was late starting last week.
Well, add another 45 minutes to that but at least the last piece of work with an unmovable end of month deadline is out and away.
And going back to our walk I was inconclusive as to what to write about because there was no definitive event this week to focus on.
Blimey (good old fashioned English expression there) – I’ve just remembered my original title!
Always read the small print.
But there’s no way I’m going to use it now having milked nearly two hundred words saying I couldn’t remember it!
So if we can all just pretend I didn’t remember? That’s all I’m saying…
Bless.
What was it I was going to write?
This all came about because of the possibility of getting our Covid jabs.
The advertisement said that you could go to the Palacio de Congreso without an appointment on one of three consecutive afternoons.
So we tentatively plonked it in our diaries.
But it just seemed to be a good idea to work out what paperwork we might need before we went there.
Novel, I know, but…
.. but lucky we did.
Buried in the small print was that the offer was open only to patients registered at two particular practices in Estepona.
Whereas we are sort of registered to a practice in Sotogrande because they do email prescriptions and did do at a time it was very convenient.
That and for reasons too long to go into fully we couldn’t get into the app for our health insurance.
So we hadn’t been able to find the practices they recommend locally.
Oh, and the change of address didn’t help.
And the fact that we both seem to be always snowed under so own “stuff” wasn’t getting to the top of the list.
Nor the fact that we needed to visit the firm’s office.
Which we did. Only to discover that Summer Hours meant it closed 90 minutes earlier than it had the last time we’d been there.
So our 75 minutes spare meant we arrived fifteen minutes after closing.
Or the next time when we discovered it was an extra holiday local to Estepona so it hadn’t opened at all.
But third time lucky.
Which if you think about it is difficult to square with the other adage – bad (or good) things come in threes…
Make your !*!* minds up people.
So yesterday, with a degree of trepidation, we tried again and found it was open 🎺💃🕺
What was it I was going to write?
Got diverted for a few moments (en espanol momentito, literally a small moment) and completely lost my train of thought.
Oh yes, the office accessed our info for us but I’ve had something happen to the app so the advice (without hesitation) was delete the app and get it again from the app store.
So this must be a pretty common issue with a known workaround albeit just a leeeeetle drastic.
Sort of the nuclear option.
And – of course – I’ve been too busy these last twenty four hours to reinstall and see if it works.
So, what has “freedom day” meant to you?
Probably not what the UK government hoped it meant with people going to nightclubs that opened at 00.01 and closed after dawn.
At the risk of getting preachy, Covid hasn’t gone away just because the PM says you don’t have to wear a mask.
The irony of the Health Secretary going down with Covid was not lost on me.
I know it’s unfashionable but do think for yourself and encourage others to do so.
I know I’m in a different country (although the southern UK temperatures were hotter than here this morning) but we always take our masks with us when we’re out.
Which meant that when we found the Paseo absolutely heaving with people last night out came the masks and on they went.
And finally.
What have I learned this week?
Anchovies. If you want anchovies in the supermercado, look in the cool cabinet with salmon, octopus and the like.
Even if they do come in tins like sardines and tuna which are on an ordinary shelf. As are mussels.
Don’t remember seeing mussels in tins in the UK. But then again I can’t say I was looking…
What was it I going to write again?
