On the mend

A week on and my health continues to improve.

Dressing came off yesterday – it was most amusing seeing my consultant admire his own handiwork…

Doesn’t really hurt at all. I’ve moved the painkiller regime back to pre-operation levels today (don’t ask) so less relief and only twice a day and it doesn’t seem to be making any adverse difference.

Started this week with the intention of doing an hour or two a day to ease myself back into things (and make sure the never-ending flood of emails didn’t get COMPLETELY out of hand).

This has turned into 1-2 hours clearing the day’s emails and the same again doing something interesting (of a work nature). So best part of four hours a day – not what I was hoping.

Of course, because the daughter is the daughter I’m now trying to work out how to send a parcel to the Russian Federation – it’s what Dads are for…

Okay – back to my own whinge. The biggest issue is the tiredness at the moment – Lorraine says she had similar following her appendicitis op. I just spent quarter of an hour yawning pretty much non-stop. And that’s not solely because shipping from the USA to Russia is not the most exciting topic I’ll ever come across.

There are. apparently, items one cannot ship from Amazon to Russia I discover. However if said items are shipped to someone in the USA (or UK or Germany) they can do what they like with them.

Much like the late, great Terry Pratchett found it necessary to invent the Verruca Gnome, I think there must be the Customer Service Pixie dedicated to making the most straightforward transaction as bl**dy near impossible as it can be without letting you give up altogether. #Rantoftheday (assuming there is such a thing).

#FirstWorldProblem.

Okay – ten minutes to Osteopath and conversations are continuing about shipping. Beats doing anything client-facing (oh hang on, she is a client, albeit she doesn’t pay as much as the one I was going to deal with but, hey!, there’s always tomorrow)…
