Some days I feel like a fraud…

I’ll get over it.

An explanation might not go amiss – I had an operation on Tuesday. To repair a hernia.

I’ve been told to take it easy for a while.

I really don’t do easy, let alone for a while.

And yesterday, considering someone had been poking parts of me back in again and sewing it back in place the afternoon before, I felt remarkably okay.

Not exactly raring to go but I’ve felt a lot worse on “normal” working days.

There is, therefore, an inclination to jump back into things because I’m fine.

But I’ve done that before after flu and the like and in all probability I won’t be fine unless I do take it easy – and if I do take it easy, I feel like I’m freeloading.

Can’t win really…

Started today with the feeling I was going to get loads of things done – private stuff, hobbies, etc. that get pushed aside by work if need be but get lots done nonetheless.

Wrong. The day after syndrome kicks in and I spend an hour flat out on the reclining sofa drifting in and out of listening to Radio 3. Too much too soon it has to be.

Still can’t dump the guilt though – am so SERIOUSLY glad I don’t work for me as an employee – I’d have no sympathy whatsoever (ah, but it might just be me on me, I hear me thinking and someone else could get all the sympathy they deserve).

Don’t borrow the inside of my head. It’s a very strange place to be!

It’s the daughter’s birthday today. Lucky Berlin! Had to open her cards earlier and show her over Facetime.  Anyone else with Gen Y/Z/Millennial children out there? Did we have it better than them or not?

I’m supposedly part of the baby boomers but I usually feel I’d have been much better off being five years older (or not leaving the family stuff until nearly 40 maybe). I look at my near contemporaries who all seem to have retired aged 55 with guaranteed pensions and are attempting to blow their wealth before it trickles down to their children.

Jealous – you bet your life I am…

It was supposed to be a really warm and sunny day today. Looking out at the gloom and drizzle I’m glad I did my first walk this week before lunchtime today. It wasn’t that warm but at least I felt warmer for having done it. Might help me sleep better tonight – the complete drop in alcohol consumption has left me tossing and turning for 30-45 minutes both nights compared with the usual head hits the pillow and off I go routine.

Mind you I think I’ll ditch the Tramadol tablets if I want a drink – doesn’t sound like a combination a sane person would want to be trying.

I think that’s enough for this week. Try not to do too much.

Thank you to everyone who has enquired about me in the last two days – much appreciated…
