My last Friday – and other stories…

Last week I mentioned that last Friday would be my last working Friday. Clients permitting.

Well, unfortunately this brought with it some level of expectation that I could deal with X, complete Y and tidy up Z. Job well done. Set yourself up for the next chapter in your business life.

Which is/was setting yourself up for the inevitable fail…

In fact the bulk of the day had been set aside for learning some new software and its capabilities which, given it was mid-afternoon before I got it to work at all, was always going to be a bit of a disappointment.

Sigh.

So Friday was far from even the usual imperfect day and more like the proverbial crock of excrement.

S’life…

At least it’s warm and sunny. Except when it isn’t and I have to ask Lorraine to sit in a room and warm it up for me for a while.

So this Friday is my first non-working Friday? Or not.

As I may have mentioned I’ve taken one Friday a month off for a year or three by now.

So

I wouldn’t have been working this Friday in any event.

And we’re away so it would have been a holiday even if I was working, or not.

Must learn not to overthink these things…

I’ve got a blood test coming up.

Pretty certain I’ve previously mentioned this but I get “hangry” if I don’t get my meals when my body is expecting them.

I’m not diabetic – on not that it’s showing up on the tests – but I get seriously jittery and I’m not a fun person to be around.

So the mention of the word fasting as well as blood test makes me very unhappy.

When I’m accused by the surgery of ignoring the request to book the test? Even more so.

The question why have you permitted two repeat prescriptions did not elicit any sensible response.

And then refusing to allow another repeat even though a couple of the tablets would run out before the results got back was guaranteed to send me ballistic.

And then a reminder that I need to take my blood pressure readings.

Seriously???

It would be somewhere well off the scale methinks.

Well as it happens the receptionist (when I phoned in asking how I made a formal complaint) proved to be better than everyone up until then.

Went away and got it sorted. Tablets restored because the test had been booked.

Many thanks are due to her.

However, must remember still to make the complaint – it should have been sorted long before then…

Wish me luck.
