Xmas can't come soon enough

Four days lie in. It’s the only thing keeping me going at the moment.

I’m worn out.

Still can’t shift the “man flu“, approaching seven weeks now, still coughing and spluttering but at least the tightness in the chest and the semi-asthmatic breathing seems to be over for now.

Lorraine has it still. Doing my best to be sympathetic – honest dear…

Looking forward (?) to the return of the prodigal daughter. Georgia (country) then Indonesia then presumably us before Amsterdam for New Year unless she’s changed her plans. She will be jet lagged and spend most of the time here in bed asleep or cluttering up the sofa watching Netflix, while expecting to be waited on by her mother and getting grumpy if she doesn’t.

Ah, bliss.

Undoubtedly she will be very successful in a few years as a travel blogger and maybe then we can get some benefit by association  (or by running her company) so it could eventually all be worthwhile.

But I’m not holding my breath…

Still just one income tax return filed and forty one days to the deadline. Every year I say never again and every year it’s the same! Take up masochism as a full time job? Might be not so hard as this.

Actually it’s partly my own fault if I’m honest. Five or six new clients in the last couple of months and none of them straightforward – on-boarding or assignments – so, so late in the income tax year is not the most sensible time to be increasingly successful!

I’ve even put a visit to Wiltshire to talk to a prospective client in my January calendar – after having told Louisa no more appointments until February. BUT, it sounds interesting so why not try to accommodate it if possible. Whether I’ll be quite so happy on the day? We’ll have to find out.

Have had to put a visit to Somerset in my diary on the first day back in 2018 as it’s the only date that works with both diaries so start off New Year with a 90 mile drive each way. Hmmm, actually, must talk about transferring them to an online package which would make the quarterly visit much less time specific – just not having to do everything in a rush (and the opportunity to outsource some of the outsourcing) would be much more sensible and potentially a lot more profitable.

Watch this space.

You know, that’s probably enough for now and I’m guessing the last blog for this year so it only remains to wish you all a very happy Christmas (or whatever else you might call it) and here’s to a prosperous New Year.

Despite all the other buggers.
