The joys of self employment

You are immediately thinking that this post will be a tirade about the issues of self employment

and I can’t guarantee it won’t be (it is my blog after all and that’s how many/most of my posts go)

BUT it does have its plus points and I will try not to overlook them.

Musing face emoji.

For example

Today is one of those days you end up with (it’s your own fault – could have stayed in bed) when you’ve nine million urgent things on your to do list.

Okay, I exaggerate but there are more than a few and a twenty-sided coin would come in handy in deciding what to do next.

So of course I’ve done nothing towards said urgent items and it looks like late afternoon before I can.

Because I’m popular – came as a surprise to me too btw…

And I’ve wall-to-wall appointments with just about time to breathe and get to the next one in between.

And the bit that DID look feasible was spent on taxi duties.

And here is my first advantage of working for myself – I can choose to work into the late evening without having to worry about the Working Time Directive.

Bulging eyes emoji.

So why am I writing this?

Because it’s in the default diary and it says do a blog post now.

It also says go to Osteopath at the same time but that happens every four weeks or so.

So – in ten minutes time – I will do so.

Second advantage of self employment. Visiting Osteopath/Dentist/Surgery in daytime rather than evenings.

A small recompense for doing my neck and back in during evenings as well as daytime!

Tears of laughter emoji…

But what happened to my lunch break?

And my lunchtime walk as well?

Oh yes, I was having a 1-2-1 meeting with a potential cross introducer (not that she was cross – just that opportunities work both ways).

So I shovel my sarnies down once I get back and start the blog post while wondering why I have indigestion.

Okay. Osteopathy beckons. Back soon.

There we are

Actually I cheated. I had a minute or two before I needed to go so I wrote the paragraph heading and these sentences before I went.

But don’t tell a soul. Trade secret…

Right. Actually back now, complete with lots of sore bits which will feel pretty much okay tomorrow

and pretty awful the day after – delayed reaction.

Had a vegetate when I got back. Might have a nap later.

All potential benefits of working for yourself

unless you’re already into what “normals” call overtime…

Well hush my mouth. Lopsided bleugh face emoji.

And now I can’t stop yawning!

It’s a gift.

Business coach Kevin made a comment earlier this week that I shall try out – even if just the once.

We have a family tradition (which I may have mentioned in the past?).

Life is not always a bowl of cherries but it’s MOST unusual that nothing goes well.

And bad is much more memorable than good so – in life – find three positives for each day.

Without fail (except holidays maybe where positives (hopefully) far outweigh negatives so it’s not so necessary).

So, given this blog is weekly, here are my three positive business experiences for the week:

  • Very good meeting with daughter and a marketing expert where an offer of future collaboration for her was given.
  • I had two occasions earlier in the week where all the aches and pains weren’t there, and
  • Nice chunk of work with a major fee looks set to complete this month.

See – not negative at all.

Actually, it only works as long as your positives are not then followed by ‘but’ or ‘except’.

Please bear that in mind should you wish to partake.

Oh yes

the plus points of self employment?

  • If you don’t like your boss you’ve only yourself to blame.
  • If you’ve done all you need to you can take the rest of the day off, and
  • If you want to fire up the Kindle because you’ve cracked some particularly complicated task, you can do so without having to justify why.

That’ll do for this week.

Get the proofreader to cast her eye over this and send it on it’s merrie way through the aether (funnily enow two – three- words not in the spellchecker – but apposite to the baroque music on the radio).

Nap time maybe.

Nap time zzzzzz
