2017 -A year to look forward to?

Becki. Parted company with a client last month offset by increased involvement with another – net revenue effect negligible but I’m sure you know which one sticks in the memory! What about you? I’m sure I cannot be the only one like this (answer – I know I’m not, well over 50% of people do this). At one time it was genetically advantageous. People who remembered the warning signs of potential bad experiences tended to live longer and definitely survive more often to a breeding age. Those that didn’t had met a nasty end with the sabre-toothed tiger or been trampled on by the rhinoceros. Interesting – so far I have admitted being a namby-pampy liberal elitist and an unreconstructed Darwinist in less than 100 words! That should lose me some part of my audience but, maybe, they’re not the audience I want to engage with? Time will tell… Another win that came to light this morning arose from a throwaway comment in the middle of a conversation regarding potential niche sectors for marketing purposes. I was one of nine people considered for membership of the Finance and General Purpose Committee of a national organisation to do with beer. Quite proud of myself really but it had completely slipped my mind. Quite unusual this afternoon – normally when working in the office I have classical music in the background – helps me relax and helps me think. Today we have a full performance of Wozzeck by Alban Berg – which certainly wouldn’t be a relaxing experience. Not a major fan of serialism in music – too wedded to the idea of a tune. If I can’t hum it (and I can hum many of Mahler’s symphonies I’ll have you know) I don’t generally like it. Finishing on a positive I’m further on with the income tax returns I do than at any time since I’ve been on my own. One every two days and I’ll have them nailed! That even includes my own which is normally not started until all the client ones have been. This year I’ve several of the major blocks of data down to queries with nearly four weeks left to run. Am sooo pleased with myself. The light at the end of the tunnel – and it isn’t a train… green-556264_1920]]>
