Life’s what you make it #firstworldproblems
finished tax returns. Took it easy this week?
No, not quite.
Snowed a bit Friday night (in UK South of England terms anyway) and Lorraine was out crafting on the Saturday so took daughter out on the (just about) passable roads of the New Forest). Great meal and beer at the Royal Oak, Fritham – should you happen to be passing. Recommended – just don’t try to get there on a summer weekend or anytime during school holidays as you will struggle to get through the door – oh, and btw it was packed on a snowy Saturday too. But Saturday evening Lorraine was down with a norovirus (not surprised THAT’S not in the useless spellchecker) type upset closely followed by me Sunday afternoon and Penelope on Sunday night.
Spent this week so far trying to recuperate.
I’m sure I did sleep Sunday evening but what with over a dozen trips to the bathroom to contend with I doubt much of it was what one might term QUALITY. So my working week so far was:
- Monday – effectiveness 0%. Sat around looking somewhat off colour while feeling sorry for myself
- Tuesday – effectiveness 20% maybe. Dealt with a couple of urgent, time sensitive matters and not much else
- Wednesday – effectiveness 50% or so. Spent a lot of time in this chair anyway. Halved (nearly) email backlog despite that day’s new ones adding to the fray. Job satisfaction say minus 50% at a guess. Not the most enthralling day I’ve ever had.
- Thursday – effectiveness 75%? Certainly got up at normal time anyway. Rest of time sensitive matters (with external consequences) sorted…
Oddly I got more of MY(personal) “stuff” done on Monday and Tuesday than I have for AGES. There is definitelya lesson there…
And it’s a short week anyway.
It’s monthly Friday off tomorrow and we’re away as well so that’s happening so what I get done in the rest of today is what it is. Definite story re weekend away. This is courtesy of the daughter’s day job, but You KNOWthere’s a but don’t you? All the correspondence over some months was predicated on the travel being First Class. Got the tickets today and you know the answer before I write it – Standard Class. Not only that but no seat reservations on a train on a Friday. #firstworldproblems. Feck off. They are having a laugh methinks. But no, so we’re still arguing (got the reservations I understand) and it’s the bl00dy day before! Why is nothing ever straightforward??? And the internet is sooo slow it’s being overtaken by snails. So it’s back to trying to complete January’s billing at one week’s remove and that nagging doubt it’ll be completed in the time I have. And due to the “issues” earlier I’m having to make sure I either answer or apologise for not answering emails before sending invoices to people because otherwise the first response will be for them to chase said email(s) and I haven’t got time to deal with that and raise the invoices too. Still, a picture of where we’re going tomorrow:

Can you guess?
